Next Time?
Posted: 26 Jun 06 12:25 PM Modified By AspenWiedii on 6/26/2006 12:30:12 PM)
As I am hoping there is a next time soon I thought I would start a thread for folks to list topics either they would like to see or that they would like to present. It seemed like a good way to for attendees to show interest for topics presenters would like to present and also for  presenters to see what topics people would like to hear.

I will start off with some topics I would love to see:

  • Asynchronous communications using TCP/IP (or UDP)
  • "Tips and Tricks and How To's" using different .NET tools like the one I missed on Team System this time or third party tools like Code Smith and others
  • More SQL and database topics from a programmer's point of view. Specifically, more about how stored procedures have changed in SQL 2005. The one this time was excellent and showed many things I did not know (and did not want to know in some cases) could be done and some that shouldn't, and other best practices. This type of information is invaluable both when creating projects and troubleshooting them.
  • More on .NET internals. Another topic I missed this time on the CLR that I would love to go in more depth in the future. Understanding the foundation of how things work at base levels helps when designing at the programmer friendly upper levels.
  • Driver and service writing in .NET, advantages and disadvantages of implementing something as a service, how to setup service projects,  etc.
  • Writing for Windows Mobile.
  • And more about writing .NET for portability to other platforms, whether other Windows Platforms or other implementations of .Net such as Mono. I enjoyed the discussion about Mono this time and found the information very helpful.
All I can think of at the moment, though there are many more. I ofund everything on Saturday useful and informative and only wish I could have attended all the seesions.

Considerations when developing and deploying enterprise applications.

Again congratulations on a grand event!

I would like to see a "Test Driven Development" presentation.  Like the one Scott Bellware did last year.

I totally agree with AspenWiedii.

Congratulation to the .Net community & the event organizers for making this event a great success.

I have few suggestions for the Next Code Camp :

  • Next time around let's try to have all the seession material (slides & Code) hard & soft copies available on the same day of the event.
  • Give equal representation for SQL Server, VB.Net & C# & AP.Net topics.
  • Include the local recruiters as sponsors available for those who are looking for jobs in .Net area.

Thank you for your feedback. We are already working on the next Code Camp and all feedback is being considered.
